Be seen. Be heard. Be Proud.

The Rural Alabama Resource Center began as an idea to reach out to, connect with, and be a voice for those who need it.

Too often we hear stories of people of all ages feeling isolated and alone in a world that seemingly keeps insisting they shouldn’t exist. We are here to say loudly and boldly: you are not alone.

Based in rural Walker County, RARC works to build connections, share resources, and create a supportive network for individuals who may not otherwise have access to affirming spaces or community support. We focus on meeting people where they are, offering guidance, visibility, and a sense of belonging in communities where those things can be hard to find.

While we are based in Walker County, the larger goal is to also serve surrounding counties, areas where support is at a minimum.

Our work begins with connection. Whether that means helping someone find local resources, building community relationships, supporting outreach efforts, or simply making sure someone knows they are seen and valued, every step matters.

With big dreams and long-term goals, we are starting by growing strong roots in our local communities across Walker County and surrounding areas. As we expand, we aim to develop programs, partnerships, and services that strengthen support systems throughout rural Alabama.

We believe people deserve more than survival. They deserve the opportunity to thrive, to be safe, and to exist openly and authentically.

This is just the beginning.
