“WHAT IS A WOMAN”
In February 2025, Governor Kay Ivey signed into law SB79, also known as Alabama’s What is a Woman Act.
The act states that the state of Alabama recognizes two sexes, male and female. By doing so, it establishes very strict definitions of woman, man, boy, girl, father, mother, etc based solely on an individuals reproductive organs at birth.
At the Alabama Resource Center, we strongly oppose this dangerous law and how to negatively effects an already marginalized community.
